From my early career
Read the text below the paintings.
The first picture, ‘Dead victor returns home’, was purchased by Norges Bank at my solo exhibition in Kunstnernes Hus in 1973. The picture now hangs in the oil fund’s boardroom. It was featured in Dagens Næringsliv just a few years ago. I apologize that I have only an old black and white photo.
‘The image from the sea of the mind’was purchased by the National Gallery at my exhibition in Kunstnerforbundet’s skylight hall in 1971.
I worked for 6 years in an artist group.
At first it was Inger Sitter and Irma Salo Jæger who started.
Eventually others joined and they left.
In the end we were 3 artists, Berit Løken, Kari Dannevig and me working on different projects.
‘Rodeløkka’ is from a large exhibition in Kunstnernes Hus, 2 halls.
The exhibition ‘Livskår’, 1977
We were partly commissioned by Byantikvaren, Sanerings sjefen and Oslo Municipality.
“Among other things, I made models of houses and stage rooms of a backyard.
We set up small tables in the “backyard” where we had light refreshments.
Residents from Rodeløkka came in their own bus and entertained. Several from the retirement home, the postman, a fireman, a magician and storytellers. Singer Jørn Simen Øverlid and his father contributed with songs.
Parts of the exhibition were also shown later in the Munch Museum and Oslo Information Center.
The project was how can artists go in and let themselves be used for a good cause. For the environment around people.
